Rain Can Not Dampen MKPC Spirit

Mother Nature did her best to dampen the spirits of our second club event of the year.  Twenty-three attendees got the last laugh in the greenhouse shelter of  Bill & Nancy Risher of Michigan Koi.  Bill’s passionate presentation on “Koi Health and Treatment” was well received by our members.  Bill’s eighteen color page colored hand out made his lecture easy to follow, understand and was a reference guide to take home.  The presentation stressed Koi observation and what preventative measures can be taken now and not wait until you loose a Koi. Symptoms of Koi diseases and parasites were discussed and what medications are available for treatment.  Bill concluded with explaining Koi injecting and the pros and cons of salt utilization.

A short break of “Mitschke Pulled Pork” sandwich and snacks led us into our second speaker, Fred Mitschke.

Fred Mitschke distributed a three page guide on the feeding habits of Koi and when and what to feed your Koi.  Chef Fred reviewed his home made Koi high protein spaezel (Bavarian German pasta) recipe.  Fred passed out a bag of freshly made spaezel food not only to touch and feel but to taste.

Our monthly Koi (Goshiki) Raffle winner was Della Davis, second a bag of Ultra Balance food to Fred Mitschke and third an Ultra Balance Hat to Dick Kulis.  Dick and Vicki Kulis can now be seen sporting Ultra Balance hats.

Special thanks to Bill & Nancy Risher of Michigan Koi for hosting our event, supplying snacks, giving us a tour of their facility and sharing their valuable knowledge to our club members.
