MKPC-SE - 2011 Events

April 29, 2011 - Evening with the Kodama's

Friday Night Fun

The evening started off with Forty-three attendees enjoying various types of Pizza, salad, cheesy sticks, beverages and if that wasn’t enough you could dive into the 4’ sub.  (Not to mention the desserts!) Could there be a Kaiser Pizza/Deli in the future?

It didn’t take long for people to gather around the two Koi tanks to view over 40 Tosai that were for sale and a dozen larger Koi that would be used for the Koi Academy over the weekend.

Prior to the evening’s presentation on “How Much is your Koi Worth,” Ray presented Mamoru & Taro Kodama with a MKPC donation check of $500 for Japan’s Earthquake Relief Fund.  On hand for the presentation was Ms Midori Takeuchi, Deputy Consul-General of Japan working out of their Detroit office. Ms. Takeuchi and the Kodama’s expressed their thanks and how it will help in Japans’ recovery efforts.

Taro’s slide presentation covered aspects to consider when doing a value evaluation of a Koi. The areas to pay special attention to are, body confirmation, pattern, color, size, blood line and rarity.  It is important to maintain these qualities by keeping your Koi healthy with the best possible pond environment.

A special thanks to the Kodama’s for this extra session prior to the weekend Kodama Koi Academy.
