Wow!  This is what this hobby is all about: koi, ponds, goodwill, hugs, Coney dogs, and expert advice.

Steve and Cheryl Childers arrived at noon on Friday, May 18 and after some coney dogs we visited the site of our IKONA?MKPS Labor Day weekend Koi Show and then we were off to visit five ponds with each owner receiving expert advice on how to improve filtration issues that they had been wrestling with all spring.

Friday night we had a gathering with wonderful food and camaraderie.  Then Saturday morning Steve presented Part 1 of the Filtration Seminar.  Lunch with some Coney dogs, and then Part 2 of the Filtration Seminar with all 36 club members savoring the practical information and the lively discussion.

After an hour break sitting by the Rae pond, it was off to visit two more ponds with again thankful club members having their filtration issues explained and resolved.

In all, eight ponds were visited and 3 hours of lecture/discussion were given.  Steve should have been exhausted, but he was always ready for more and Cheryl greeted every pond owner with a big hug and took lots of pictures.

The Michigan Koi & Pond Club thank Steve and Cheryl for their graciousness, kind hearts, and expertise that make us all proud to be members of the hobby.

If you would like to see a pictorial scrapbook of this visit, Cheryl took numerous photos and published them at  Once at the site, go to Koichat and then scroll down to the May 20 posting.
